Lots of people are talking about unadvertised jobs. They know that there's no point applying to advertised jobs; there's too much competition. But they don't know how to find unadvertised jobs. If you're in the same boat, perhaps I can help. I quit applying to advertised job postings years ago. I've found my last few jobs through contacts and by doing so-called guerrilla marketing. It's actually just common sense, finding these jobs. You just have to forget about all the nonsense you've been taught about the job search process.

Being fired or laid off can drastically reduce your levels of self confidence in all kinds of social situations. This includes any number of community or family events that you may take part in during your free time. Even though you may not be at work to “socialize”, there is a very real and tangible social standing that comes with being gainfully employed. Unfortunately, when you go for a job interview, your sense of self worth may be even lower than usual.
