How to Pass Your Job Interview

“Connect” with the interviewer

Much as I regularly make my mind up upon the suitability of a candidate in the first couple of minutes of an interview. The first impression is absolutely vital; therefore take your time to perfect a few basics. Arrive on time, appropriately dressed, clean and tidy. Next when first meeting your interviewer to make eye contact, smile warmly as you greet them politely, with a firm (but not crushing or weak) handshake. It's OK to feel nervous, but you should be confident after the preparation you have done. The interviewer is looking for friendly, confidence, with a general appearance that matches that of the other people that work for the company. Basic as this may seem it's all too often overlooked.

Unemployment topped 10 percent in 15 states and the District of Columbia last month, according to federal data released Friday. The rate in Michigan surpassed 15 percent, the first time any state hit that mark since 1984.

The Federal Reserve this week projected that the national unemployment rate, currently at a 26-year high of 9.5 percent, will pass 10 percent by the end of the year. Most Fed policymakers said it could take “five or six years” for the economy and the labor market to get back on a path of long-term health. To get there, consumers must return to a regular spending groove and housing prices need to start rising again.

What to look for in a Recruitment Site

There's the identity that we create, and there's the identity that just… well happens to be. My issue is that I'm just about done with selling heritage. We work on projects linked to tourism, culture and heritage sites. We sell the stuff to the travel, cultural and heritage agencies that they need to get people to buy their holidays, theatre tickets, and entrance fees to some of the most intriguing and spectacular sites in the world. Ok. I'm not exactly done with selling heritage, but I'm in sales, and basically just want a new sales job.

What Not to Say in Your Resume

Posted under Careers by admin on Sunday 12 July 2009 at 4:32 am

Drafting the perfect resume can be as much about not saying the wrong things as about stating the right ones. There are certain things that have no place in your resume and you should take care to exclude these elements from your resume.

Mistakes of Spelling, Grammar and Syntax: Your resume should be correct and flawless in terms of grammar and syntax, which, can really destroy that all important first impression that the resume makes. Computer programs such as Word have made it quite easy for us to run a spell check, but errors of grammar and syntax are yet more difficult to spot and computers will miss many of them. If therefore, you feel you are unable to proof read your own resume sample, have a friend or relative do it for you.
