Newton watched an apple fall from the tree and
discovered the law of gravity.

Fitness, too, has its foundation rooted
in such observations. Our rishis were not merely sadhus, lost to the
world as they meditated on a higher plane. They were practical men who
imbibed the laws of nature by noting the behaviour of animals and
birds. Their evolved minds enabled them to use these practices in
positive ways for humankind.

Health care is a hot political topic – but most of the attention focuses on how Americans will get their Health care costs covered. While this is important, a much bigger issue often flies under the radar. The question that most people don't ask should be 'Is our Health care system really designed to improve your Health?'

It's Never Too Late To Start

With nearly a quarter of all Health club membership being held by people fifty-five and above, the Fitness industry is looking at new ways to cater to these baby boomers.

Fifteen years ago the target demographic was the young and upwardly mobile. Today, those folks have arrived and they're looking for new ways of staying Healthy and fit.

Those ways are getting easier to find. Top gyms and Fitness programs are offering more low-impact exercises. Even the advertising is changing. While there are many different approaches to fat burning, not all of them are equal. I know because I am an Orange County Personal Trainer. Some machines develop muscle strength while others give you a good cardio workout. The key to fat burning is to make the heart pump harder and burn as many calories as you can. This means that you must use every possible muscle in the body in order to get the job done. You can join aerobics, do jumping jacks, or any number of things but theres a new way that is not only good as a fat burner its also a whole lot of fun! Keeping the exercise fun, keeps you exercising. Try using the Fitness ball, also known as the stability ball. There is a good reason for the second name. It will test your stability both physically and mentally if you let it. You can also target specific areas, just like aerobics, as you get the cardio workout.

A great diet of nutritious foods provides the natural fuel to maintain youthfulness and long life but we are depriving ourselves of complete Health and happiness if we do not include a good exercise program. I recommend developing a Healthy, safe and lifelong commitment to exercise. It is best to carefully set realistic goals after meeting with your doctor. He or she may recognize your strengths and limitations and can work with you to achieve permanent results. Find activities and programs that interest you and rotate them so that you always enjoy your workouts.
